Annotation Platform
Software designed to help teams collect, manage, and quality-control labeled data from human raters.
An annotation platform is the tool that structures the work of human raters — presenting them with tasks, collecting their responses, tracking agreement, and managing the quality of the resulting data. Platforms like Label Studio, Scale AI, and Labelbox are purpose-built for this; some teams also build their own. A good annotation platform reduces annotator errors by enforcing task structure, supports calibration and quality checks, and produces data in formats that downstream training and evaluation systems expect. For behavior architects, the annotation platform is where behavioral specifications become operational: the task interface, instructions, and examples displayed to annotators determine how consistently the spec is applied across potentially thousands of labeled examples.
